decal FAQ

A decal is cut vinyl — a single colour of vinyl film, cut to the exact outline of your design. There is no printing involved: the colour you see is the vinyl itself, not ink laid on top of it.

Your uploaded image is reduced to a single channel before cutting — either the dark areas or the light areas of your design become the cut shape, depending on the finish you choose. This is why photos and detailed artwork work as well as flat logos: the system finds the shape within the image rather than needing a pre-made silhouette.

Decals are applied with transfer tape: a low-tack film placed over the cut vinyl that lifts the entire design as one piece and carries it to your surface, keeping every part of the design in registration. Peel back the vinyl's paper backing, position the decal, press it down, then peel away the transfer tape to leave the vinyl in place.

Six finishes: matte black, navy, carbon fiber, white, silver, and gold.

Decals are available from 10 cm on the shortest side up to 60 cm on the longest side. For anything outside this range, contact us at contact@impry.me and we will advise what is possible.
